Burbot (Lota lota)
A tasty fish of the Gadidae family with a characteristic body covered with marbled yellow, green and black flecks. With a flat head, with a single whisker on the chin, it resembles the head of a frog.
The burbot is a fish of cold and night, so it feels best in icy waters, and feeds only after dark. Spawning takes place in winter when the water temperature does not exceed 4°C. At a water temperature up to 20 ° C it falls into a stupor – it does not feed or float, but it is tucked in hiding at the bottom of the river.
Being a gluttonous predator it is considered to be a dangerous robber who does havoc among eggs and fry.
